Carpet Basics and Care What you need to know: |
| |
| Basics |
| Fuzz |
|
- Carpet made with staple nylon will shed after installation for a period of time. This "fuzz" is normal. The more frequently the carpet is vacuumed, the sooner the "fuzzing" disappears.
- Carpet made with BCF fiber has virtually no “fuzzing” or shedding.
|
| Seams |
- Seams can be and will be visible. Seams will be more visible in a lighter carpet than a darker color.
- Berber carpet seams are more apparent and will show color variation at seams. Because Berber carpet is constructed in "loops" it does not "bloom" and cover seams like traditional carpet.
|
Tracks |
- All carpet shows tracks. We offer textured carpets that track "less," but they are not "track proof."
|
| Care for your investment |
|
| Vacuum regularly |
|
- Use an upright vacuum cleaner with a beater bar for routine cleaning; at least twice a week under normal use.
- Empty/replace the bag often.
- Berber carpet: you must raise the vacuum beater bar so it does not come in contact with the carpet surface.
|
Don't rub but BLOT spills immediately. |
- Scrubbing or rubbing the carpet may distort its appearance.
- Spots and spills allowed to dry or "set" are always more difficult to remove.
- Use care with chemicals that can alter the color of your carpet.
- These are just a few items that can damage your carpet
- bleach
- insecticides
- pool cleaning agents
- plant food
- dimethysulfoxide (arthritis and sports creams)
- furniture polish
- acne medication
|
| Shift furniture periodically to minimize wear patterns. Please don't drag furniture across the floor. This can damage carpet and cause buckles. |
| Walk-off mats at entrance ways trap soil and dirt.
|
- A rug with no backing can also be used at vanity areas to prevent unnecessary wear.
- Always make sure the area is completely dry before placing a rug on the carpet.
|
| Professionally clean your carpet using a HOT WATER extraction method. |
- No soaps or cleaning agents should be used.
- Only spots should be treated with cleaners.
- Please refer to the manufacturer's contact information below.
- Additional application of any stain treatment may void your warranty!
